I can create use my art skills to create unique and innovative works of art and design unique products.webcam-toy-photo8.jpg
I chose the 5 of diamonds because their were many different directions you could go with it. I chose to keep the classic diamond shape but put a spin on it. I got the color scheme from the old "Simon Says" electronic game. At first it was hard to decide what to do. Once I saw the "Simon Says" colors, it just popped into my head, "I can make the four diamonds red, blue, green, and yellow. With those colors and a black outline it makes the white 5th diamond visible. I feel that this is a successful work of art. It took longer then I wanted it to, but it is my first art project sense 5th grade. This means more to me then just a picture I made, it is something that is 100% me. I never was told what to do or how to do it, that makes me feel that this is more important then it would if I would have been told what I had to do.

Chess Piece
My chess piece was never finished. I had an idea to make a sword standing on it's point coming out of a round base. It took longer then I planned to get the shape that I wanted and getting all of the angles of the blade and the curves on the handle consistent. It was going to be an evil pawn and I was planning on putting some red accents of the gems in the handle.

Masking Tape Project
Our idea was to do a masking tape Dragon. We had a picture and an idea, but it didn't end up looking like we wanted it to. I was just looking through different projects that other people had done using masking tape and I saw a picture of a dragon and showed the rest of my group and we decided to do it. We had a lot of trouble trying to get the angles and proportions of the dragon right. It was successful to a point. We did get it completed and it looked somewhat like the picture we had, but people had a hard time figuring out what it was. We had to explain what it was multiple times before people started seeing the dragon.

My Life Story Project
Photo_on_2012-05-21_at_10.26.jpg
This project was one of my favorites. It was easy for me to develop an idea for this because of how often I look at my life, both where I've been and where I am now. Once I had the idea, I just rolled with it. The CDs with song titles on the represent how music has had a huge impact on my life. The songs I would listen to a few years ago are songs similar to the ones on the CDs. The blades represent the pain I was feeling and how I felt like I never belonged. The broken glass represents how I felt like my life had been shattered when my dad 4 years ago to get a job trucking cross-country. The cross in the center with the verse John 3:16 represents where I am now. When my dad came back about a year ago and married my new step-mom, we started going to church. That started me back down the right path. This project clearly represents my life up to this point.

Vase Transformation
Photo_on_2012-05-30_at_09.59.jpg

The process of transforming my vase was pretty simple. I took modge podge and painted it on the outside of the vase. Then I put pieces of tissue paper on and coated them with another coat of modge podge. The tissue paper became translucent and when you put a candle or a light inside of it, it will shine through with multiple colors. I think that this process wasn't hard, but it was really time consuming. I think that this looks really abstract and no matter how hard someone were to try, they couldn't recreate this exactly. This is a one of a kind.
